Rescuing

ApacheWe have been rescuing pet pigs for 7 years and have found them dumped in a field, one bedroomed flats, terraced houses, town centres. Each and every case is different. Any pig that comes under our care, where possible will be rehomed to a forever home, we cannot guarantee that each pig we rescue will live out the remainder of their life at Pigs Inn Heaven.

Here is a list of questions we will ask you to send in an email, once you have answered the questions and sent back to janet@pigsinnheaven.co.uk your email will be forward to our board of trustee for a decision, please note that not all pig rescue enquiries are accepted.

  • Where are you situated/address & postcode?
  • What is the reason why you are re-homing the pig?
  • Is the pig in good health?
  • How old is the pig?
  • Does the pig have a name?
  • Do you have a Holding Number (CPH)? (This would have been obtained when you registered the pig through DEFRA). We will need this for the pig movement. To obtain a Herd Mark please contact

  • Is the pig registered with a vet? if so please provide their details
  • As the Female (Sow) been used for breeding?
  • As the Male (Boar) been castrated, if not you will have to have the boar castrated and keep for a further 12 weeks

To give a pig a home at Pigs Inn Heaven we charge a fee of £400 per pig, this covers the initial veterinary health check and the first month of care.

To put this into context the average cost of putting a dog in a kennel for 2 weeks is £245.

To transport a pig, if you are unable to bring the pig to us is an added cost £200 this is purely to cover expenses.

To give a Terrapin a home at Pigs Inn Heaven we charge a fee of £150 per Terrapin, this covers the initial veterinary health check and Micro-chipping.
